Summer Propane: Grill, Cabin & Farm Cylinder Fills

From the backyard grill to the lake cabin to the farm, summer runs on propane. High Plains Cooperative fills cylinders and offers bottle exchange right in Plainview so you're never caught empty.

High Plains Cooperative  ·  June 2026

When summer hits southeastern Minnesota, propane quietly powers a whole season of good times — the burgers on the grill, the water heater at the cabin, and plenty of hardworking equipment out on the farm. Keeping a full cylinder on hand means you never have to cut the fun short.

High Plains Cooperative has served the region since 1931, and we make it easy to keep every bottle topped off all season long.

Refill or Exchange — Your Choice

When that 20-lb grill cylinder runs dry, you've got two easy options with us. We'll refill your own bottle so you pay only for the gas you actually get, or you can grab a fresh tank through our bottle exchange and be on your way in minutes.

Refilling your own cylinder often gets you more gas for your money, since exchange cages are typically filled to a set weight. Either way, you're covered before the next cookout.

🔥 Check the Date Stamp

Cylinders are stamped with a manufacture date and generally need to be requalified about 12 years later, then periodically after that. If yours is past due, dented, or rusty, bring it in and we'll help you sort out a safe option.

Propane Powers More Than the Grill

Once you start looking, propane is behind a lot of your summer. Around here it keeps running:

  • Gas grills, griddles, and fire pits
  • Cabin water heaters, ranges, and fridges
  • Pool and spa heaters
  • Patio heaters for cool bluff-country evenings
  • Livestock barn heaters and other farm equipment

If you run propane out on the farm, ask us about our livestock and ag propane supply and heater sales — we can keep the whole operation fueled.

Heading to the Cabin or Camper?

Cabin and RV season means smaller bottles that always seem to empty at the wrong moment. Top off before you head out, and keep a spare on hand so a dead cylinder never ends the weekend.

Always store and transport cylinders upright and secured, and never leave one in a hot, closed vehicle for long.

Give us a call to check hours before you head over.
